Stevens-Johnson syndrome and its more severe form, toxic epidermal necrolysis, are immunologic disorders that cause widespread blistering of the skin and mucous membranes. Its incidence is higher in children and can lead to long-term disabling ocular surface complications that can be averted with amniotic membrane transplantation early in the disease. To introduce an amniotic membrane treatment technique that is time efficient and minimally invasive but still allows for extensive coverage of the ocular mucosal surfaces to prevent and lessen the severity of the complications from ocular surface sequelae.
