Sperm sharing has recently been introduced in a number of clinics in the UK. In all gamete sharing schemes, two goals can be distinguished: increasing the donor pool and enabling less affluent patients to access IVF treatment.

Recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the efficacy of HA-based sperm selection prior to ICSI, including HABSelect, have consistently reported reductions in the numbers of miscarriages among couples randomized to the intervention, suggesting a pathological sperm-mediated factor mitigated by prior HA-binding/selection. The mechanism of that protection is unknown.

Many studies showed that Day 7 blastocysts are clinically valuable, although less euploid and less competent than faster-growing embryos. Nevertheless, a large variability exists in: (i) the definition of ‘Day 7’; (ii) the criteria to culture embryos to Day 7; (iii) the clinical setting; (iv) the local regulation; and/or (v) the culture strategies and incubators.

AMPK is expressed in the ovarian follicle, and its activation by pharmacological medications, such as metformin, inhibits the production of steroids. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is responsible for infertility in approximately 5–20% of women of childbearing age and possible treatments include reducing body weight, improving lifestyle and the administration of a combination of drugs to improve insulin resistance, such as metformin.

Taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the male reproductive system and it has been demonstrated that taurine can efficiently improve spermatogenic function in rat models of testicular injury. However, limited information is known about the role of taurine and its transporter TAUT in spermatogenesis and early embryo development.

The ovarian stroma arises from the mesonephros during foetal ovary development. Changes in the morphology of the ovarian stroma are cardinal features of PCOS. The ovary is more fibrous and has more tunica and cortical and subcortical stroma.

PCOS is characterised by a higher number of follicles at all developmental stages. During controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, PCOS women develop a larger number of follicles as a result of an exacerbated response, with an increased risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

Many researchers have explored trends in coital frequency and variables associated among healthy individuals in other nations. There have been major changes in all aspects of Chinese life and society over the past decade, including two major fertility policy adjustments. The sexual habits of infertile couples in China remain poorly understood and warrant further investigation.

At present, the only definitive contraindications for TESE in men with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) are a 46,XX karyotype and microdeletions in the azoospermia factor a (AZFa) and/or AZFb regions. After a first negative TESE with MA, no test currently exists to predict a negative outcome of a recurrent TESE.
