AB Descemet membrane (DM) endothelial keratoplasty is considered the gold standard for treating corneal endothelial decompensation and is a true like-for-like replacement. Not all causes of endothelial dysfunction are global, with conditions such as viral endotheliitis affecting discrete populations of endothelial cells.
