AB Postoperative venous thromboembolism is a major adverse event associated with orthopaedic surgery. With the addition of perioperative anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy, the rates of symptomatic venous thromboembolism have dropped to 1% to 3%, and as such, practicing orthopaedic surgeons must be familiar with these medications, including aspirin, heparin, or warfarin, and the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs).

AB The number of spinal procedures and spinal fusions continues to grow. Although fusion procedures have a high success rate, they have inherent risks such as pseudarthrosis and adjacent segment disease.

AB Open transosseous rotator cuff repair (RCR) was the original benchmark surgical technique for RCR. The advent of arthroscopic and suture anchor technology shifted the paradigm from open to arthroscopic surgery.

Sleep disturbances are associated with pain and mental health. We prospectively compared a cohort of patients with orthopaedic trauma with a control group to establish the prevalence and duration of sleep disturbance and associations between sleep disturbance and pain, mood scores, and functional outcome scores.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a common orthopaedic procedure, after which many patients benefit from physical therapy (PT). However, such services may not be uniformly accessible and used. To that end, disparities in access to care such as PT after interventions may be a factor for those of varying race/ethnicities.

Although risk factors for heterotopic ossification (HO) have been defined, the effect from surgical approach is not fully understood. The primary objective of our study was to evaluate the effect that surgical approach has on the risk for developing severe HO after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and compare this with other known risk factors. We hypothesized that there would be no difference in HO formation based on the surgical approach.
