Performance of a pre?administration infection screening questionnaire in patients with rheumatoid arthritis administered biological disease?modifying antirheumatic drugs

Sho Fukui Masei Suda Sayaka Furukawa Sakura Tamaki Yukihiko Ikeda Yasuhiro Suyama Hiromichi Tamaki Mitsumasa Kishimoto Sachiko Ohde Masato Okada

doi : 10.1111/1756-185X.14108

Volume 24, Issue 5 p. 647-653

Pre?administration screening of active infections is imperative for the safe use of biological disease?modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, a standardized screening method is lacking. We therefore implemented a novel systematic screening method with a simple predetermined questionnaire on infections and assessed its effectiveness.

Association of F11R polymorphisms and gene expression with primary Sj?gren’s syndrome patients

Tzu?Jung Fang Ruei?Nian Li Yuan?Zhao Lin Chia?Hui Lin Chia?Chun Tseng Wan?Yu Sung Tsan?Teng Ou Cheng?Chin Wu Jeng?Hsien Yen

doi : 10.1111/1756-185X.14095

F11R gene encodes junctional adhesion molecule?A protein (JAM?A), which is expressed in various types of cells and is involved in leukocyte extravasation during inflammation. Sj?gren's syndrome (SS) is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease that involves lymphocytes invasion of exocrine glands. F11R has been studied in autoimmune diseases, but any association between F11R and SS has not yet been investigated. Therefore, experiments were undertaken to examine the relationships among F11R gene polymorphism, messenger RNA (mRNA) expression and SS patients.
