Pingli Zhao Qihui Li Renxian Liang Xiong He

doi : 10.1111/1756-185X.13946

Volume 23, Issue 12 p. 1619-1626

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease affecting about 1% of world population. Three polymorphisms of Interleukin?1 receptor?associated kinase (IRAK1) gene, rs3027898, rs1059702 and rs1059703, are studied to associate with RA risk. However, the findings are inconclusive. Therefore, we performed a meta?analysis to derive a more precise estimation of the impact of the 3 polymorphisms on RA risk.

Nuclear factor??B in rheumatoid arthritis

Jie Li Rong?Shuang Tang Zhou Shi Jin?Qi Li

doi : 10.1111/1756-185X.13958

Volume 23, Issue 12 p. 1627-1635

NF??B (nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells) signaling pathway is involved in the occurrence and development of various kinds of inflammation, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In this paper, the relationship between the activation or inhibition of NF??B and the pathogenesis of RA is discussed. It is found that activated NF??B operates a dual?aspect effect which can either promote or suppress inflammation. When NF??B is inhibited, the symptoms of RA are significantly improved. The specific role of NF??B is closely related to its upstream stimulator and downstream activator. Therefore, we review the research on NF??B in RA over the past 20 years in order to have a clearer understanding of its mechanism.

Interleukin?17A biomarker as a predictor for detection of early axial spondyloarthritis changes in patients with psoriasis

Dalia S. Saif Mohamed A. El Tabl Naglaa Afifi Mahmoud S. Abdallah Sally M. El Hefnawy Shimaa A. Hassanein

doi : 10.1111/1756-185X.13997

Volume 23, Issue 12 p. 1664-1669

Although the pathogenic mechanisms of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are not completely clarified, evidence suggests that interleukin 17A (IL?17A)?mediated immune responses play a pivotal role in the disease. This is best underscored by the important clinical effectiveness of IL?17A inhibitors in psoriasis treatment. We aim to investigate the predictive value of IL?17A in detecting the early axial spondyloarthropic (SpA) changes in psoriatic patients.
